Bringing Ancient Knowledge to Life Through Hands‑On Archaeological Practice
I am an experimental archaeologist and traditional skills instructor with more than 30 years of experience in hide tanning, prehistoric crafts, and ancestral technologies. Through hands‑on workshops and online courses, I share practical, research‑based knowledge that blends experimental archaeology with ancient craft to make traditional skills accessible today.

Deer Skin Tanning Course
When: June 22 - June 24 Place: Fotevikens Museum, Höllviken Sweden
I will be teaching a deer skin tanning course at Fotevikens Viking Museum, where you’ll learn how to take a fresh deer hide through each stage of the traditional brain‑tanning process. We work through preparing, softening, and smoking the hide in an authentic Viking village setting, giving you a clear understanding of how buckskin is made.

A Bit about Me & My Story
I grew up in the USA. I have been tanning skins using traditional technologies for over 30 years and grew up practicing outdoor and ancestral skills in the vast, sparsely populated tracts of Wyoming.
I hold a Master's degree in Experimental Archaeology and a PhD in ‘Microscopic Analysis of Prehistoric Tanning Technologies’ from the University of Exeter, UK. I am an experienced analyst of prehistoric and early historic leather artifacts. I split my time between the UK & Sweden.
